The following is a sample of a typical Summons for Civil Lawsuit - Divorce.

It is typically used when a defendant resides out of state, has departed from the state, or cannot, after due diligence, be found within the state or conceals himself to avoid being served.

The complaint and summons in such cases can be served on the defendant by publication in a newspaper for a period of 4 weeks, at least once a week during that time.
